Bins Communications Mishap

Alastair Majury highlights Bins Communications Mishap

Dunblane residents in the late morning and early afternoon on Monday 16th November received letters, dated 10th November informing them of the ‘Replacement of Your Grey and Brown bins’, informing them that their brown bins were to be collected that morning.

Meaning these letters were delivered after the collection process has started for many residents. The letter includes an FAQ about what residents should do if they are not at home for the collection, however this is only useful if the letter is received well in advance of the collection date so that people can make the suggested arrangements.

Dunblane and Bridge of Allan Councillor Alastair Majury has received a number of enquiries from residents both bemused and angry at the council’s inability to get the communications aspect of this waste transformation process correct, and again prompted the same questions about the wider programme, such as charging for garden waste and moving to a monthly collection for general waste.

Dunblane and Bridge of Allan Councillor Alastair Majury said:

“I don’t normally put out my brown bin for collection at this time of year, but thankfully they are stored where the waste operatives were able to access them, and my bins were still changed, so I am grateful for that. However, what about residents who don’t ordinarily put their bins out and were not accessible to be swapped out? If the council can’t give residents sufficient or any notice before replacing their bins, what confidence can residents have that other aspects of this transformation will go anymore smoothly?”
