- I had no idea what I was in for when I applied for EBV
- I decided to launch a new business called Amor Umbrella
- EBV program leverages the skills, and resources available to veterans entrepreneurs by offering a cutting-edge training in entrepreneurship and small business management for veterans
Her entrepreneurial journey started in Miami, FL own local college, Miami Dade College, while taking a Global Supply Chain Management for a class project.
Niurka said the EBV played a critical role in helping her make that adjustment by providing actionable resources available for veterans that allowed her to gain the confidence in launching her new business.
Amor Umbrella was founded by Niurka Castaneda, inspired by a love for unique and beautiful umbrellas, umbrellas that not only make you look like a STAR, but that are also functional items that goes with any outfit and by a desire to provide an impactful solution to the damage caused to Mother Earth by the waste due to the sheer amount of broken umbrellas that ends everyday in the landfill. Ignited by the entrepreneurial workshop V-WISE, hosted and run by IVMF, empowered by a Global Supply Chain Class and armed by Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV) also hosted and run by IVMF.
Amor Umbrella is a Miami StartUP, Veteran & Woman Owned, Social Impact Clothing Accessories Fashion Brand that is Veteran Owned and intend to employ Veterans and their family members.
“A new way forward”
Transitioning from military life and away from the support of others fellow soldiers, and back to a life as a civilian can be nerve wrecking, but programs like Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV) are a great tool that helps veterans thru the transition from the prior military life to entrepreneurs!
The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV) is a national education and self-employment training program for veterans that is supported by the SBA and that leverages the skills, and resources available for veteran entrepreneurs and high education to offer a one of a kind training in entrepreneurship and small business management to veterans.
