I’m Bad News is AWSDOTR's first release since the widely celebrated full-length album Where We Lay Our Bones (2018) that was met with rave reviews . Where We Lay Our Bones was picked as Best album of 2019 by Global Texan Chronicles magazine.
I'm Bad News is a dark, vibey song heavy with mood. The lyrics portray a lacerated soul that is desperately seeking for salvation in friendship and confirmation but is so damaged that all it manages to accomplish is make people hurt and disappointed. Below, you can read the full letter penned by Hardy Hum about this release.
"There’s a person living in each and every one of us that – torn and mangled by the less pleasant circumstances in life – has become, to a varying extent, a less flattering version of how we see our selves and how we want others to see us. This is a person we readily keep in confinement, shackled in a cold dark basement, at safe distance from all the judging eyes, including one’s own. Exposing too much of it to the people around you might risk burdening them or, even worse, hurting them.
But what happens when scars get too many and too deep – when the purgatory of life turns the curtains to ashes and one’s torn inner self is suddenly exposed for everybody to see? When the walls erode leaving large holes – and our disfigured prisoner gets the taste of freedom and starts showing its ugly ravaged face? The holes can only be fixed with human kindness and friendly love. But the prisoner’s power makes it impossible to have friends. To engage in and sustain relations. You become one of those that no one can put up with.
I'm Bad News is an ode to the pitch-black dark of the human steaminess, to the other side of the coin, to the tens of thousands of suppressed screams behind polite smiles…
Most of us would never acknowledge such a side of our selves – not even to our selves, let alone to other people! Maybe while lying in a deathbed, as a song… in that case this would be my deathbed lullaby No 1.
I guess this is my own version of Baudelair’s My naked Heart, hopefully somewhat less repugnant and contentious and more like a tool for human bonding somewhere between the individual, mundane and intimate and collective, universal and eternal – the most earnest of human suffering."

Song lyrics:
I’m Bad News
In a world of frames, deframed I roam
I know I shouldn’t stay but I just can’t seem to go
I ‘m Dr Jekyll AND Mr Hyde
The two of us you just can’t divide
I’m a walking contradiction
A matter of concern
I’m bad news, a trouble
The thing you never learn
I’ll give you everything
And take nothing in return
When too cold for too long
All you want is to get burned
Wanna carry on?
Ya gotta get on through!
Or just let it go
And get on to something new
I know it hurts to the bone
When all the colors are blue
But there ain’t no cure in this world
For what is troublin’ you
I’m a walking contradiction
A matter of concern
I’m bad news, a trouble
The thing you never learn
I’ll give you everything
And take nothing in return
When too cold for too long
All you want is to get burned.
And We Should Die Of That Roar drops epic new single - I'M BAD NEWS
April 24 AWSDOTR drops a brand new single, I’m Bad News. I'm Bad News is the first single from AWSDOTR’s forthcoming full-length album Deathbed Lullabies, to be released autumn 2020.
And We Should Die Of That Roar is a one-man musical soirée, instigated and run since 2014 by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Hardy Hum. Hardy’s music has been described as “incredibly innovative” (Pure M Magazine), “truly unique and powerful” (Res Magazine) with an immediately distinguishable sound that is “drenched in whiskey, aged with smoke and fired with emotion and power” (ibid). This, however, is but a dark echo of a more distant past.
