James C. Birdsong, Jr., author of the inspirational memoir, The Best is Yet to Come: A Testimony of One Young Man’s Redemption, two-time Who’s Who in America listee and recipient of the 2019 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award has been named Marquis Who’s Who Top Artist by Marquis Who’s Who in Berkeley Heights, NJ. Birdsong learned of the news on August 21 following his recently itinerary in Los Angeles related to the gospel music industry, including a meeting with Bishop Ron Gibson, senior pastor of Life Church of God in Christ in Jurupa Valley, CA and cast member of the Oxygen network hit reality TV series, Preachers of LA for two seasons.
The Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists selection process is a comprehensive and detailed attempt to produce a list of professionals that have demonstrated achievement in the field of fine art. The process involves many factors, including an assessment of a professional’s years of service and unique contributions. Birdsong is being recognized for his accomplishments in the gospel music industry as an aspiring vocalist, songwriter and business professional in this genre of music. For this recognition, Birdsong will receive a customize plaque and a profile on their website.
According to the 39-year-old author and vocalist, he states, “To be honest, I was not expecting this recognition as a Marquis Who’s Who Top Artist. God has truly blessed me to accomplish so much as a young person in the millennium generation. This is truly an everlasting legacy. I appreciate the Marquis Who’s Who selection committee and staff for their consideration. To God be the glory for the things He is doing. “
To this date, Birdsong has been featured on multiple media platforms locally, nationally and globally, the recipient of proclamations and resolutions from various elected officials, earned the respect and admiration from his industry peers, a photo op with then Governor Nathan Deal in 2018 at the state capitol during the legislative session, and mentoring today’s youth and college students. On August 3, Birdsong did a radio interview on the Hallelujah Dey Gospel Show in Nigeria hosted by Nigerian gospel artist and radio personality, Populah Dgenerus. The interview was conducted on Facebook Live. A native of Richmond, CA, he is a 1998 alumnus of Fairfield High School in Fairfield, CA.
While living in Fairfield, Birdsong became a respected leader in the community and considered by his peers as “the Pastor of Fairfield High School” as a student. He moved to Atlanta in 2005 and enrolled at Beulah Heights University. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Education in 2010. Along the way, Birdsong has taken graduate courses in business and leadership. He has been a resident of Cobb County since 2015.
