Graduates Looking To Pursue Executive Professionals In The Filming Industry May Want to Consider Plan B Due To Possible Permanent Changes From 2020's Pandemic

Are 2020 Challenges completely changing the way we watch/produce Film?

As far as the filming industry goes, there are plenty of tough calls being made that heavily impacts the lives of the professional on a daily basis. However, as of lately, the industry has taken a huge shift that will be hard to come  from depending on its' viewers. Based on two defining articles "WarnerMedia Chief Has Become a Movie Villain to Some in Hollywood" and "Hollywood Is Preparing to Sacrifice Movie Theaters", two opposing views will depict a issue arising in the world of cinema in our near future. WarnerMedia's Chief, Jason Kilar, has indentured upon a transition into the digital era of cinema. Kilar decision is based on factors such as the disadvantage presented by the state of the world and the theatrical movie franchise controversy on the present issues.

From the Zooming Out article "WarnerMedia Chief Has Become a Movie Villain to Some in Hollywood" Nicole Sperling writes "Mr. Kilar said. “I don’t think this would have been possible if we had taken months and months with conversations with every constituent. At a certain point you do need to lead. And lead with the customer top of mind and make decisions on their behalf.” (Sperling, 2020, last para.) This illustrates the necessary skillset of adaptability coming into full bloom. This quote supports the topic sentence because he is acknowledging the facts that it was a call that the positioned required to make to be successful and for the viewers as well. However, for those who are looking to be apart of such a dynamic career field, one must have the ability to understand what decision makers do for the industry he/she/they are embarking upon. Although this was a smart business play, it will stifle the job market significantly due to lack of necessity of human being to make the movie watching experience felt. If majority converts to viewing new movies at home then it will simultaneously result in the destruction of the movie theater.

David Sims of " Hollywood Is Preparing to Sacrifice Movie Theaters" stated early in the article "In the short term, everything WarnerMedia is doing makes sense." (Sims, 2020, para. 3) Now, although this is opposing to Kilar's decision, this is mostly a neutral statement because it is true and agreed upon both parties. The phrase " In short term" is very important to relate to the fact that because we are in uncertain times doesn't mean these times will last forever. Furthermore, it makes sense for Kilar to act on instinct to make a decision where everyone will be able to benefit. Desiring film majors and soon to be professionals are probably wondering where does this leave them in the next 5 years? Will jobs even be readily available in consensus of what has recently been taught? More than likely art majors with dreams of working in Hollywood will be scarcer than ever before, or, even worse, known as something that is either seasonal or "dedicated"(hand-picked) work with little to no room to get in and grow within the field.

To conclude, these times have brought us to facilitate unfamiliar aspects of the jobs and roles we play in society, and Kilar displayed his true skill as a professional by adapting to one of the most horrific times for the economic growth of majority of the filming industry. However, will this professional perspective change the lives of millions? It is known to effect AMC and Cinemark specifically in times to come due the convenience of Kilar allowing A list movies this year digitally. This, although very incredible business wise, will impact the lives of many college graduates who have committed themselves to the development of film and to the world of entertainment.
