Boedecker Cellars has completely reimagined the layout and experience at its spacious tasting room to protect guests and workers:

  • Tables are spaced six feet apart — indoors and outdoors.
  • Guests are encouraged to schedule online reservations via the Boedecker website or Open Table.
  • Employees will wear masks.
  • Contactless payment methods are available via mobile devices.
  • Separate entry and exit doors will keep foot traffic flowing in one direction.
  • Large, garage door to tasting room will remain open during all business hours to enhance natural air circulation.
  • Free, contactless delivery of wine in the Portland metro area. Orders may be placed on the website.

BACKGROUND:

Boedecker Cellars has been making internationally recognized wines from the Willamette Valley AVA since 2003. Athena Pappas and her husband, Stewart Boedecker, are winemakers and partners in the business.

They began by crafting wines at the Carlton Winemakers Studio — the first shared-use winery in Oregon. In 2008, they built their own sustainable urban winery in a refurbished warehouse in the heart of Northwest Portland. This large, open space features multiple places for guests to enjoy wine while socially distancing from other guests and workers. Outdoor tables are surrounded by lush, green foliage, allowing guests to relax in an oasis within urban Portland.

Boedecker Cellars is currently selling several vintages of pinot noir as well as rosé, pinot gris, pinot blanc, and a blend of gewürztraminer and pinot gris. These are available at the winery, via an online store, and at retail stores such as Market of Choice, New Seasons and Fred Meyer.
