Celebrated Country Songwriter Jerry G. Davis Releases New Single, "Me and Harley D"

Song Performed by Michael Lusk; Filmed and Directed by Kenny Lee

(Lebanon, TN) – Jerry G. Davis, one of the country music industry’s most notable songwriters, today announced the release of his new single, Me and Harley D. The song is performed by Michael Lusk and the corresponding music video was filmed by veteran artist Kenny Lee. In addition to writing the lyrics to the song, Davis also served as Executive Producer for the video.

As the title suggests, Me and Harley D is about a man’s love for his classic motorcycle. “I get so much enjoyment out of the feeling of complete oneness and total freedom I have whenever I ride my bike,” Davis explained.

Davis first burst onto the country music scene in 1982, co-writing The Trouble with Hearts with the legendary Larry Kingston. Performed by Roy Head, the song marked the first time one of Davis’s songs made it onto the Billboard charts. He subsequently wrote two other songs Kingston himself performed, Afraid to Stir the Ashes and Step Outside Your Ring.

While Davis is best known for writing country music lyrics, he has never limited himself to that genre exclusively. In fact, his most recent single (co-written with Hall-of-Fame songwriter Dennis Morgan and performed by Mack Meadows), 2000 Lite Beers Ago, has garnered widespread popularity on the rock charts, especially in Europe. “I really do love country music the most because the songs tell a story,” explains Davis.

According to Lee, it’s that unique storytelling ability that makes Davis so special at his craft. “Jerry is exceptionally creative and he’s a deep thinker. He writes from the heart – and it seems like what matters most to him also matters to a lot of others, so people can relate to the lyrics he writes.”

Born and raised in Lebanon, Tennessee, Jerry G. Davis began writing songs in his early 20s. Introduced to some of country music’s finest musicians through a friend, he subsequently met and worked with industry stalwarts such as Larry Kingston, Dennis Morgan, Pete and Rose Drake, Michael Lusk and many more.
