By being selected as the winner in the Children's Contact Lens Practice of the Year 2018 category, Bhavin Shah, Behavioural Optometrist and Myopia Control Consultant has been recognised for his work in helping children with reading difficulties and those with myopia (short sight).
“It's such an honour to receive this prestigious award” said Mr Shah. “It's also a privilege to help children to achieve their potential by improving their vision. Our myopia control programme has made a huge difference to children in the community. I hope it has made a positive life long impact.”
“The other finalists for this award were exceptional practitioners, so I was thrilled to be announced as the winner at the ceremony in April 2018. The Optician Awards are the longest running and most respected in the industry.”
Bhavin Shah, Director of Central Vision Opticians in Finchley has pioneered a revolutionary new programme to help children who have myopia. He has developed a system combining vision therapy and contact lenses, a first of its kind in the UK.
The judges commended Central Vision Opticians for engaging children as well as their parents in every step of the process of fitting and wearing the contact lenses (which slow down the rate of change of myopia). They are also constantly updating their services taking advantage of research and technology in this field to benefit their patients.
“They were very supportive, patient and understanding. They explained the process, showed us how to fit the lenses, and took the time to answer all our questions.” said Ludmila Memaj, mother of 6 year old Oli (one of their youngest contact lens wearers) about Central Vision Opticians. “We are very happy with Central Vision Opticians, it is a very friendly and family oriented Optician. That's exactly what we were looking for.”
It’s great to see a local business providing unique and patient focussed eyecare and being recognised for this nationally.
