Global Entertainer and former honoree- La Toya Jackson hosted the event and shared her personal experience with domestic abuse from her ex-husband who almost beat her to death. Last years’ Beacon of Hope winner Caitlyn Jenner passed her award to former President of 20th Century Fox, Scott Neeson who founded the Cambodian Children’s Fund. Tim Ballard and the team of Operation Underground Railroad were also honored for their work in the fight against human trafficking. Former honoree Byron Scott was also on hand to help the live auction raise funds to support the cause.
The party got jamming with Grammy Winning artist, CeeLo Green who had the crowd on their feet for a full concert of his greatest hits and welcomed performers and patients on stage with him to celebrate their survival. The most poignant performance of the evening came from television and recording artist star Major as he serenaded the doctors and patients on stage with his hit “Shine Bright.” As he sang to each patient the lyric, “you are beautiful” there was barely a dry eye in the room or on stage. Powerbase Management artists, Auburn Road a breakout country group who has toured with Rascal Flatts and Toby Keith entertained guests during the evening’s cocktail reception and Sonna Rele (Empire/Disney/Powerbase Management) later took to the stage to debut two new songs showcasing her incredible range.
“I extend my deepest gratitude for our sponsors, performers, celebrity talent and all of the guests and donors that make it possible to change the lives of these survivors. A very special thanks to our presenting sponsor MOIA Entertainment and my dear friend Mohamad Salih for his personal commitment to our cause. Our gala celebrates resilience, resurgence and hope, it wouldn’t be possible without all of the support that we receive. This year we have patients from six different countries and our mission is reaching even more survivors globally including members of the LGBTQ community as well as veterans and children of war. Most of all we are so proud of our patients and their bravery to share their stories to help other survivors.” Deborah Alessi, Founder and CEO Face Forward International.
The phenomenal yearly gala attracts and honors some of the entertainment industry’s biggest stars and raises money to provide physical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking, and violent attacks.
