Progressive education reaches a new level
Part of living in a constantly changing and globalized world requires a permanent evolution in society and in the way we educate new generations. Problems nowadays are certainly not the same from our parents, and that is why it exists a prevailing need in training the smallest in the family for the challenges outside the nucleus world.
Inspired in this criteria and the vision to provide innovative education, come into being La Piazza Academy in 2012, when Jessica Pinto and Nita Yeung were looking to create a new form of providing a first class education, hand by hand with a regular socio-emotional development in their students. To do that, they took as base innovative and progressive philosophies where the attention is focused on the student, teaching them in an intuitive way through their relationship with the world and new social experiences.
However, nowadays La Piazza Academy has added to their repertoire a new tool to their educational methods: constant training in mental health. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 1 of 5 kids have or are going to have a mental health illness, for what is not rare that this topic has gained so much attention, waking up more awareness in the primary stage of the education. With this in mind, mental health has become a priority to the institution because it reinforces their goal in the education of global individuals and socially responsible with the world.
Their techniques in progressive education make the image of the therapist friendlier and accessible to students, teachers, and families. The therapist participates inside the teaching areas, integrating him or herself as part of the learning game, eliminating, therefore, the "visit to the therapist". It's an uncommon approach to education that positioned La Piazza Academy as pioneers in progressive education and mental health education in South Florida due to a group of specialist graduated from outstanding universities like Harvard and Yale.
Besides that, La Piazza Academy is the only institution in South Florida that integrates mandarin as part of their resume. This addition to their pensum was thought to prepare students from the early stages of their education with an innovative curriculum in their development as global citizens and have helped them win a prestigious position in the Florida International University Chinese Speech & Ski Contest.
To the founders, the goal has always been the same: teach kids how to think and not what to think. For what education, creativity, emotional intelligence and the values of a multicultural community as Florida make out of La Piazza Academy the best institution for development and education of global individuals ready to fight the challenges of a society
increasingly demanding and constantly evolving.
