Easy Cooking Recipes for Kids To Make

Has your child shown an interest in cooking? Check out these simple and delicious recipes for kids to help them further their skills today.

It seems like every time we turn on the TV, there’s a new kids' cooking show. From Masterchef Junior to Kids Baking Championship and so many others. There’s even Man vs. Child, where a team of young chefs take on a culinary pro. With this exploding interest in kids cooking, there’s never been a better time than now for your children to grab an apron, pull out the mixing bowls, and start creating their own masterpieces. Here are some excellent recipe choices for them to try at home:

1) Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

What child doesn’t love chocolate chip cookies? They are the perfect balance of sweet and savory, warm goodness. Not only that, our classic chocolate chip cooking recipe is the perfect easy choice for kids just getting into baking. The ingredients and preparation are fairly simple. You already have most of them at home, like flour, sugar, and butter. All you need are some chocolate chips and you’ll be ready to start. You can make your standard cookie or let your child experiment and see what kinds of fun shapes they can dream up.

2) Crunchy Breakfast Tacos

Breakfast tacos are the perfect simple, tasty recipe for children to start practicing. It also allows them to practice many skills from measuring to cracking eggs and putting just the right amount of everything for the perfect taco. Begin by having them scramble up some eggs in a mixing bowl. Then, allow them to choose some garnishes like onions, cheese, and tomatoes. After that, move it over the stove, let it cook up, and serve inside some crunchy taco shells. As a bonus, you can have your child try to make some guacamole to go on top as well.

3) Salad Boats

Some kids can be fussy about vegetables. So, this is a fun way to trick them into enjoying salad. With salad, everything is about the ingredients. Start by having them choose between a selection of fresh ingredients. Then, select a protein of choice—chicken is a great option. Have them toss it up and mix in some dressing. Finish it of with a garnish over a broad green leafy veggie like romaine or kale.

4) Baked Tofu Tenders

Most kids love fried chicken tenders. This fun recipe is an excellent twist that has all the tastiness and much less fat. Begin by having your child separate the tofu into equal-sized chunks. Then, create a batter station of scrambled eggs, flour, and seasoning. Have them coat the tofu in the batter then pop it in the oven. In 35 minutes, you’ll have tasty golden brown tofu snacks. While it bakes, use the time to make a tasty dipping sauce.

5) Pizza Skewers

This is a fun recipe for adults too. This delicious combination blends together the best of both worlds—pizza and kebabs. Have your child mix up a combination of tomatoes, onions, garlic, cheese, protein, and any other ingredients you’d like together. Then, have them tear some basil over the ingredients. Follow this by rolling out some pizza dough, which you can then thread around the ingredients on the skewer. Pop it on the grill and your tasty meal will be ready in no time.

5 Tasty Recipes for Young Chefs
