STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - 11 March, 2025 - The Battle of Polytopia, the award-winning 4x strategy title, has today introduced weekly challenges, providing a new approach to competitive play.
For nine years, The Battle of Polytopia has combined skill with randomly-generated enemy types, resources, and map design. The free update of weekly challenges shakes up competitive play as gamers are given the same map, tribe and gameplay conditions.
With just one attempt allowed per day, players will compete to gain the top score and climb the leaderboard. This new competitive game mode will see players reach for the highest score in 20 turns with the winner’s attempt showcased in a video replay for players to learn from the best.

By playing the weekly challenges, players will get the chance to play as tribes they may not already own. The Battle of Polytopia features a roster of 16 tribes, each with unique gameplay abilities. In addition to the four base tribes included with the game, a further 12 are available for purchase at a cost of $1-4. The weekly challenges will see all players compete as the same tribe, regardless of whether they have purchased it.
“Weekly challenges are just like Groundhog Day. We’re challenging players to play the same map throughout the week, and learn something new on each attempt. In many ways, this approach turns Polytopia into a puzzle game; where the outcome is determined by careful decision-making and skill. These challenges have provided plenty of fun at Midjiwan HQ, and we can’t wait to see how players respond.”

The free update is available now on PC and mobile through Steam, the App Store, and Google Play. New players must finish five games before accessing Weekly Challenges.
