Dominique Campbell-Thornton Crowned Miss Maryland United States 2019

A rising therapist with a platform encompassing mental health, expressive arts and social injustice, Dominique calls on her title to make a positive impact for children and adults battling mental health.

Rochester, NY [May 31, 2019] -- The Mrs. United States National Pageant enthusiastically announces Dominique Campbell-Thornton as Miss Maryland United States 2019.

Dominique embodies her platform’s message as a counseling intern, specializing in culinary art therapy and expressive arts. Dominique’s platform, Brain Sugar, promotes a non-standard healing approach using culinary art and standard art workshops to improve the mental health of children and adults. Dominique quotes: “Art is the key ingredient to a healthy mind and a healthy society, which is why I refer to it as brain sugar.” Wanting to further develop her devotion to philanthropy and servitude, Dominique was drawn to the United States National Pageants for its prioritized value of volunteerism and genuine support of their contestants.

“I’ve learned through my pageant experience that people really do want to change their communities for the better. Sometimes, they just need a little push from someone,” said Dominique. “Mental health is a topic that many have been taught to fear. I’m not afraid to start the conversation.”

During her reign, Dominique aspires to help others develop greater mental and emotional wellness by hosting culinary art and expressive arts workshops and events across the nation.
