Filmmaker, David Martyn Conley hopes to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of mental health in America. His film Father's Day is about a man, named Ash Poole (Gary Modlish) who suffers a string of emotionally seismic events. These events push him to take several students hostage in a local school. Conley plays Detective Whitlock, the first police officer to respond. Whitlock tries to reason with Ash in an effort to minimize the body count. Everything is not what it seems, and the events that follow will change all their lives forever. The film is produced by actress/producer, Sharon Conley (Rectify, NCIS:New Orleans)
Conley says, "We're hoping we can help start the conversation about mental illness, bullying and its connection to school shootings. We constantly see the effects of this mental instability, but rarely want to talk or do anything about it."
The film was released on demand Saturday March 9, 2019. The 16 minute, multi layered drama is followed by interviews with clinical psychologist, Dr. Chris Thurber, and law enforcement experts, Mike Hunt, Bryan Theis, and Clay Culpepper. Among other things, Dr. Thurber outlines ways to maintain mental fitness. The law enforcement experts talk about active shooter situations and how we can proactively improve personal safety. The film is entertaining and informative.

"Lots of people in the country have been touched by some form of mental illness. Unless we talk about it, things are only going to get worse." says Conley. "Folks can make a difference, just by watching."
