Los Angeles, CA — Multi-Platinum songwriter, vocal coach, and BMI Million-Air Award winner Melanie Andrews—best known for co-writing Janet Jackson’s iconic hit “Let’s Wait Awhile”—is redefining music education and artist development with the launch of her Built to Last College Tour and new book series, The Do’s & Don’ts in Music.
The first volume, Built to Last – The Vocal Handbook, blends professional vocal technique, mindset training, emotional wellness tools, and decades of industry insight into a handbook designed to strengthen both the voice and the artist behind it.
Andrews—whose songwriting and vocal contributions appear on more than 13 million records sold worldwide—rose to fame when a high-school trip with her best friend Janet Jackson to Minneapolis led her to present a tender ballad she’d written. That song, “Let’s Wait Awhile,” became one of Janet’s biggest hits and earned Andrews multiple BMI awards, launching her into a multi-platinum career.
In 2026, she will bring her transformative message directly to students through the Built to Last College Tour, featuring:
Live vocal & songwriting masterclasses
Industry Q&A sessions
Performances with Grammy-nominated musicians
Two exclusive student scholarships per campus sponsored by the Snooky Young Foundation of the Arts and AudioVision-Music
Built to Last College Tour – In…
“Artists need more than technique—they need resilience,” Andrews says. “Your gift was never meant to break you; it was meant to build you.”
Booking for the 2026 tour is now open for colleges and university arts programs nationwide.
