Tonea Stewart Featured in Indie Film ‘The Golden Voices 2’

Actress Tonea Stewart reprises her role as Vickie Wilson, the Dean at Terrell Christian College in the independent movie ‘The Golden Voices’ 2’.

From Director and Producer M. Legend Brown, ‘The Golden Voices 2‘ continues the inspiring story of music, faith, and perseverance. Set in the vibrant world of collegiate gospel choirs, the film follows Sidney Jackson, a talented choir director seeking to revive her career and honor her grandmother's legacy. When Sidney is offered a chance to lead the prestigious choir at Southwest Christian College (SWCC), her late grandmother's alma mater, she sees it as her shot at redemption.

However, the job comes with a challenging condition: she must recruit Tamika Carter, a gifted but reluctant young singer from a small town in East Texas. As Sidney ventures into Tamika's world, she encounters unexpected obstacles and discovers there's more to the young prodigy than meets the eye. Meanwhile, Tamika grapples with her dreams and family obligations, unsure of her path. The film explores mentorship, family, and finding one's purpose as Sidney and Tamika navigate their budding relationship and personal struggles.

Along the way, they must overcome past hurts, self-doubt, and external pressures to find their true voices. Set against the backdrop of a high-stakes choir competition, The Golden Voices 2 promises to deliver soul-stirring music, heartfelt performances, and an uplifting message about the power of faith, friendship, and following your dreams.

Not too unlike her professional life, Tonea Stewart was able to channel her character in the film from her years as the former Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts of Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama where she retired in 2019 after 48 years in Higher education. 

It was great fun and an inspiration for Tonea to be able to return and film with a dynamic cast that includes: Chrystee Phariss as Sidney Jackson; Jim Blumetti as Professor Crim; Marcus M. Maudlin as Dean Thompson; and
