Elvia Cadena’s New Single Release

June 16th, 2020 * Riverside, CA. — Latin/Pop/R&B Singer, Elvia Cadena has her second single released called, “The Best Thing That Ever Happened To You” , written and produced by legendary Latin R&B musician, Rudy Salas, and released through her Round 2 Music label out of Riverside, CA.

Rudy Salas is perhaps best known for his music with bands El Chicano and Tierra, and is one of the major influences of what is known as the Eastside Sound in Los Angeles. He has been in music professionally since his start in the ‘60’s and is also one of the composers on the soundtrack for “Eastside Heartbeats - The Musical” , a collaboration with Jim Holvay, David Reyes, Tom Waldman, and his brother, Steve Salas.

Salas decided to write the song for Elvia after being approached by her label’s CEO, Charlie Perez. He sat down to check out some of her music on YouTube and says, “Elvia reminded me of some of the great R&B/Jazz singers of old like Etta James and Dinah Washington. I knew immediately I wanted to pen a song for her”.

“The Best Thing That Ever Happened To You” is the story Salas says he felt could be a women’s anthem type of song, like the way Gloria Gaynor’s song, “I Will Survive” had become in the 1970’s, and because of recent news reports of domestic violence escalating across the nation due to the COVID-19 quarantine.

Elvia is honored that a music icon such as Salas would take the time to pen a song for her, “I was so surprised and shocked he wanted to work with me. I am forever grateful for that” says Elvia. The two plan to collaborate on new songs together in the very near future.
