Wednesday, Oct. 13th, 2021 * Atlanta, GA. ~ 'Hispanic Actor' is a comedy film short about two actors that are constantly competing against each other for the same limited number of roles featuring Latinos and follows Mario Torres, a day player actor that is ready to take his career to the next level. The only thing standing in his way is Mario Puentes, a taller, handsomer, "Rico Suave" type of actor that seems to pull the rug right from underneath him every time.
The talented cast in the film represents members from all over Latin America and The Caribbean in a film directed by Kyle Scott who also serves as the Executive Producer along with the film's screenwriter and Co-Executive Producer, Javier Vazquez, and Executive Producer, Karla Vazquez.
'Hispanic Actor' is described as a comedy with a satirical narrative and social commentary about how little opportunity still exists for Latinos in film outside of the stereotypical Gang-Bangers or seductive Momasita roles, played out to a culture whose buying power helps sustain the movie industry at large. Hispanic and Latino people go to the movies more than any other group and they have the highest per-capita theater attendance among all ethnicities in the country, according to a 2019 report from the Motion Picture Association of America.
The film is now part of an initiative supported by the Riverside EpiCenter, host for the premiere screening, in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month that coincides with Atlanta based Director and Producer Kyle Scott's media film production company, Canyon View Media, whose global agenda is to bring stories to film that reflect the many rich cultures both here in the United States and internationally.
"I'm incredibly excited to share this project with the world. It's not often that we have an opportunity to show some of the chaos and discrimination that actors have while trying to position themselves in the world of film and television. Working on this film has been incredibly satisfying to do as a social commentary comedy" says Scott.
"I have been the biggest fan of the Riverside EpiCenter for years, since it's inception. This is one of the most beautiful facilities in the south east of the United States and I am truly blessed for the partnership that we have formed for the Hispanic Heritage Month. The EpiCenter is one of the premier mid-tier performing arts centers in the southeast with growing national reputation. It's so incredibly important that People know about facilities like this that not only have a world-class theater but also have fitness, bowling, rock climbing, youth programs, gaming, meeting rooms, dining, co-working, it's been the perfect partnership to showcase our film in the culmination of Hispanic heritage month."
Anyone wishing to attend the screening of 'Hispanic Actor' can do so on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at the Riverside EpiCenter in Austell, GA. Showtime is 7 PM.
