When Charlie Perez and Monibee Henley, CEO and V.P. respectively, started Round 2 Entertainment in 2014, Charlie had a vision of eventually starting a "legit" record label where he could sign some of the "great" musical talent that was all around him, and that he booked many times over the years for his entertainment company. That vision was fully realized with Round 2 Music, LLC being filed with the Secretary of State (of California) office in July of 2019.
This comes some 5 months after the initial creation of the label when Perez and Henley found their 1st artist to sign in February, 2019 in singer/songwriter, Brittany Nicole of Tulare, California. Once they began booking Brittany on shows they promoted and with area promoters around the state, the immediate response of fanfare to Brittany from patrons, prompted Perez to find and create a working relationship with well-known songwriter and producer. Carlos Guillen of La Cima Music in Santa Barbara. Guillen and Perez quickly began working on a forthcoming EP for Brittany (as yet, untitled). The first single from that EP was released in May, 2019 entitled, "Play the Fool (for Love)", with their second single to be released on September 6th, "Never Satisfied".
Both songs have been getting positive reviews and previews, and the label is planning pre-sales campaigns of "Never Satisfied", to test market the song to a national audience for what they hope will be a "break-out success" for Brittany, whom they firmly believe will be a worldwide star in the industry one day.
To ensure Round 2 artists are heard on the airways, Round 2 Radio was also established and all operations of the station are directed by Angel "Baby" Rodriguez, Rodriguez is a well-known on-air personality and producer in San Bernardino, California, He is best known for spinning Underground Oldies, Bomb School, R&B, Hip-Hop, and doing his "fun-filled" interviews, dedications & requests.
This is an exciting time for Charlie Perez and the staff at Round 2 because for him, a successful businessman in the construction industry, he gets to live out his love for music vicariously through the concerts and shows he promotes and now too with his label artists, starting with Brittany. "I love music and I have been putting on concerts and shows since November 2014. Listen, I can’t sing, play instruments, or dance, and I want to go to the Grammys and sit in the front so this is the only way I figure I could get there!" Perez says with a smile.
What's next for the label: Round 2 Music, LLC plans to seek a major distribution deal; has begun work on a Brittany Nicole national tour as her music spreads on streaming services, and on radio stations across the country; and is in the early stages of planning a residency show for Brittany and her band, "Classic Allstars" in Las Vegas that they are describing will be a musical tribute to some of the great female singers to ever play Vegas, past and present.
Round 2 Music, LLC also plans to bring new artists into the label family soon. They have their eyes on some singers who have statewide reputations for the music they have done in California and on tours around the country (artists to be announced).
