Cadena explains how the lyrics of “Forbidden Fruit” came about in a recent feature article:
“When I was in high school, my friend’s boyfriend would flirt with me and I kinda’ liked it, but I knew I had to stay away from him because he was my friend’s boyfriend! LOL. So, I am sure a lot of girls have probably had similar situations with bff’s and boyfriends”, Elvia says with a big smile.
When you hear Elvia sing, you are reminded of some of the great jazz voices of old such as Sarah Vaughn, or Billie Holiday with a refreshing Pop style that many would compare to the late, Amy Winehouse, who happens to be one of Elvia’s musical influences.
Elvia attributes her love of music to her mother who always sang to her as a child growing up. She feels as if that is what is meant for her to do, sing.
"Forbidden Fruit" co-writer, Melanie Andrews, says of the new single, "Forbidden Fruit is a super fun new original song with a retro feel that has Pop/R&B influences spalshed in. We loved collaborating with Elvia on her vision for this song she started! It is definitely catchy and my favorite part is Elvia's whistling sections! That girl can whistle as well as she sings! It's very impressive!!! My music partner, Jay Shanklin blew me away again with nailing the music composing and production of this upbeat music track!"
"Forbidden Fruit" marks the third song release from the Riverside based Round 2 Music label, and the first song released under the guidance of Next Star Studios, and Melanie Andrews. This is Elvia Cadena's first professional song release and she is very proud of this song.
