In response to reports of soaring sales of alcohol, anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs with the coincidental abuse of such drugs during the pandemic (1), the Scientology Volunteer Ministers of Florida is offering the free online course Answers to Drugs. The course is one of the 19 free courses available 24/7 on volunteerministers.org and can assist families to educate themselves and their loved ones on the danger of drug addiction.
“It’s always a concern in stressful times that people will turn to drugs and alcohol to cope with their problems.” Said Mary Kate Mason, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, in an article from the News-Times. (2)
“The course covers basic tools to assist another to recover,” said Glendy Goodsell, Executive Director of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Florida. “From helping the person discover why he took drugs in the first place, to eliminating the mental and spiritual damage done by drugs, to providing the person with tools that will enable him to stay off drugs for good: it is a simple, yet thorough, course.”
“The epidemic is pushing people to isolate themselves. Drugs may seem like a good solution when one feels lonely but there is a need for education as to the side effects of those drugs” said Ms. Goodsell. “This is why our online courses were made available to anyone at no cost or donation requested. So everyone can get the information.”
The course includes a short video and is readily available in 17 different languages including English and Spanish. To start one of the online course please visit volunteerministers.org.
