On March 8th, The L. Ron Hubbard East Coast Theatre packed the Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) Center to the brim with guests, costumes, sound effects and New York City accents with their live performance of L. Ron Hubbard’s pulp-fiction story The Mad Dog Murder. The Theatre brings the heyday of pulp-fiction to modern times, enthralling audiences as they witness a plot which turns a harmless Pekingese dog into an insidious agent of murder.
The Theatre’s executive producer, Joanie Sigal, welcomed the guests before taking guests back in time as she sang songs of the 30’s and 40’s.
The Mad Dog Murder is a murder-mystery story wherein Tommy Farrell, NYPD patrolman, responds to a call about a supposed mad dog on the loose only to find a man with tiny teeth marks on his hand at the scene. Something doesn’t quite add up and Tommy suspects murder as he sets out to solve the mystery and save a charming young lady framed with the murder of her uncle. With witty humor, and a touch of romance, the murder-mystery unraveled revealing the true identity of the murderer.
The audience gave a standing ovation to the actors after the performance was over.
“We’re very thankful to have had the opportunity to host the L. Ron Hubbard East Coast Theatre. They did a spectacular performance, and boy did they bring a crowd with them!” said Michael Soltero, Manager of the CCV Center.
A first time guest to a Theatre performance said “That was a great performance. Thank you so much for inviting me. I was really impressed at the way that the actors were able to change their accents and characters so quickly! I didn’t know what to expect but I'm really happy that I came and brought my friend with me. She said that she liked it a lot too since she is an actor herself. I’m probably gonna go home and read this book! Thank you again.”
The CCV Center serves as home to the L. Ron Hubbard East Coast Theatre’s rehearsals every Tuesday night. Nonprofits and volunteer groups, like the Theatre, can utilize the CCV center at no cost.
