$5,000 GRANT FROM DUKE ENERGY FOR THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR CARES PROGRAM

Generous grant from Duke Energy will be used for back to school supplies for CARES clients

Duke Energy has generously donated $5,000 to the House Next Door for our CARES Program. C.A.R.E.S. (Coordination, Advocacy, Resources, Education and Support) is an evidence-based family-centered, strength-based, and community-driven model for child abuse prevention. The programs unique “Wraparound” approach and Family Team Conferencing offers services and support to families experiencing stressors, providing families with natural supports that help them to develop and implement plans to ensure their stability and the health and welfare of their children.

The Duke Energy grant money will be used to support our CARES families as they prepare for back to school, which can be a huge financial barrier for them. The funds will be divided up between our CARES families that have a financial budgeting goal. Eligible families will pick up their first gift card for back to school supplies at our DeLand Service Site on July 19, 2019. They will then bring back receipts from their purchases along with a household budget on August 2, 2019 for a BBQ for all of our CARES families. They can also collect their second gift card for back to school shopping at this time.

Thank you to Duke Energy for making back to school less stressful for our CARES families!
