Shreveport, LA-The town of Blanchard, Louisiana is getting a new holiday on February 1 to start Black History Month 2023. Sandy B. Hooks Day celebrates the life and legacy of the first Black postman in Blanchard, Louisiana-Sandy B. Hooks on February 1st annually, also Hooks' birthday. Blanchard, LA Mayor Jim Galambos will issue a Sandy B. Hooks Day proclamation to Hooks' great niece Global Activist Greshun De Bouse.
