A New Year Brings New Adventures in Learning

Travelnitch Awarded Grant to Expand Virtual Adventures Program

Monson, MA—Thanks to support from the Brooks and Joan Fortune Family Foundation, kids everywhere will soon have greater access to the world through a new, on-demand series of Virtual Adventures. Their generous gift of $5,000 will help bring the world into homes and classrooms through kid-centric tours developed by educators turned tour guides.

“Your commitment to making global education accessible to all children, regardless of their circumstances, is both inspiring and impactful,” says John B. Fortune, President of the Foundation. “By connecting kids to the world through stories, tours, and crafts, [Travelnitch] is fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity and opening new windows of learning.”

This expansion program was first piloted by Travelnitch in 2024 with a visit to Prague, in collaboration with Ms. Arye, an elementary school teacher. “Perfect for curious little minds, our Virtual Adventures bring cultural immersion experiences into the classroom with help from subject matter experts,” according to Amanda Renna, Chief Exploration Officer at Travelnitch. “No one knows how to engage kids better than educators. Working together, our program will serve the needs of both traditional and homeschool students seeking new and engaging opportunities for a global curriculum.”

Thanks to the Fortune Family’s generous donation, Travelnitch will be expanding this effort in 2025 to include many new tours targeting elementary-aged youth. These short, easy-to-digest videos will showcase the strange, mesmerizing, peculiar, fascinating, trendy, jaw-dropping, and inspiring world that we live in. Accompanying lesson plans will prompt kids to dig deeper through group discussion and hands-on activities in the classroom.

Travelnitch has been igniting curiosity through its Virtual Adventures program since 2020 thanks to support from The Etolia Fund, Monson Savings Bank, and Mass Cultural Council. They welcome educators who are passionate about travel to reach out about sharing their own unique travel stories with a growing community of young explorers.
