Coalition Helps Churches Control Rising Energy Costs
Trenton, NJ – February, February 19, 2018 – Are you aware that in many parts of the US, energy is the second-biggest company budget item after salaries? This is also true for churches and seminaries. It can be challenging for religious organizations to meet the many financial challenges that are part of maintaining their facilities Electric and gas costs are some of the largest expenses for most church organizations. However, these costs can be significantly reduced by aggregation or combining energy procurement with other facilities of a related or similar group. The Faith Based Energy Coalition was formed to help faith based organizations aggregate energy procurement and manage energy on a larger scale .
According to the Environmental Protection Agency commercial and non-profit organizations waste up to 30 percent of the energy they use in their facilities. Robert Hall, Managing Director of the Util Solutions Group, a Hamilton, NJ based energy consulting firm started the Faith Based Energy Coalition to help the larger church organizations become better stewards in managing energy costs after hearing his pastor mention the huge electric expense the church had to pay each month during a Sunday church service. ” Although a large church can spend a few hundred thousand to over one million dollars annually in electric and gas cost, energy management and competitive procurement is not a facility management priority for most churches”, said Hall.

The Faith Based Energy Coalition aggregation of the energy usage of many churches throughout the country, allow individual churches to receive lower rates comparable to the competitive rates received by fortune 500 corporations.
