Dr. Christopher Mathewson is a senior training specialist, engineer, geologist, and educator for the Texas Engineering Extension Service. He is being honored for his contributions in his field.

Dr. Christopher Mathewson is a senior training specialist, engineer, geologist, and educator for the Texas Engineering Extension Service who has been honored for his contributions in education. Case Institute of Technology is where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1963. From there, Mathewson went on to receive his Master of Science and Doctoral degrees in Geological Engineering from the Unviersity of Arizona in 1965 and 1971, respectively. He is the author of a textbook in Engineering Geology and has published over 90 technical papers.
Dr. Mathewson has gone great lengths in his profession. He has served as President of the American Geoscience Institute, the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists, and as Chair of the Engineering Geology Division/Geological Society of America. In May 2012, he was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists.
The department of Geology & Geophysics in the College of Geosciences for Texas A&M is where Dr. Mathewson holds the title of Regents Professor Emeritus. Through the college, geologists are able to study the Earth and it’s physical properties. On July 9-13, there will be an Under the Sea Camp hosted by Texas A&M at the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley. Children are encouraged to attend this unique, fun, and education camp where a different professor will be teaching each day.
