April 3, 2019 - (San Francisco, California) - When it comes to eyewear, one Gossip Girl star is ready to bring the Upper East Side’s best known brands to consumers at Times Square prices.
Vision Interchange (www.visioninterchange.com) is an online marketplace for both sunglasses and glasses, and the brainchild of Nan Zhang, who played Kati Farkas on the hit show.
Now with the show rumored to be in a reboot, Zhang is focused on today’s consumer launch of Vision Interchange, which connects consumers with high-end looks at consumer friendly prices, all while serving the greater good - a portion of every purchase is donated to charity.
Those brand names include the likes of Tory Burch, Prada, Chanel, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and more, all available for trade on Vision Interchange’s online marketplace, or through partnered Bikini.com’s Wanderlust box.
How it works is simple:
STEP ONE - Ship Us Your Frames
Answer a few basic questions about your current frames and we’ll send you a super-sturdy prepaid box to mail them to us. Put your frames in the box, put the box in a mailbox and we’ll update you as your frames make their way to us.
STEP TWO - We Appraise
We double-check that your frames are in good condition, clean them, take stunning photos and showcase them. Based on the brand name and quality of what you send us, we’ll allot you points to use in our marketplace.
STEP THREE - Shop & Find What You Love
Because Vision Interchange is a great deal for both buyers and sellers, we have a huge selection of high quality frames from the designers you love. Once you select your new glasses. Customers only pay a $39 processing fee for the transaction and that’s it. You can then keep the new glasses forever, or trade them in again whenever you choose.
Vision Interchange also offers lenses thanks to a nationwide network of optometrists for up to 40 percent off.
That’s it!
“Designer glasses are so expensive because most major eyewear brands fall under one corporate roof,” says Zhang. “Because of the market consolidation, consumers pay luxury price points without many other options. Vision Interchange was designed to tackle this budding monopoly, putting choice and opportunity back in the consumer’s hands.”
Vision Interchange was selected for Capital Innovators highly-esteemed and top-ranked (Business Journals story, Forbes story) accelerator program in Spring 2018 and has since launched partnerships with the University of Maryland Medical Center, and the Johns Hopkins optical networks in the DC area. These partnerships are a first for an eyewear marketplace, as the sharing economy ventures into brand-name glasses.
“We hope to offer a nationwide network of eyecare providers who will help millions subsidize Vision Interchange as a valued service going forward,” Zhang said. “We hope to become much more than a commercial marketplace, but part of the healthcare ecosystem as well.”
Consumers aren’t the only ones to benefit by trading on Vision Interchange. A portion of every trade goes to benefit VI Foundation. VI Foundation is a collaboration of like-minded individuals who believe vision is one of the most important necessities of life. Underserved communities face tremendous difficulty in procuring vision health care services, or resources for glasses and optical needs. The mission of the charity is to provide free glasses and free vision health care to underserved communities.
