65. IS SCIENCE REALLY OBJECTIVE?

Indeed, it is important to recognize the huge value of scientific research and the significant contribution it makes to the expansion of human knowledge. Regarding this contribution to enhancing life, it is outside the purview of this article to discuss whether the severe harm it has caused to humanity - from the development of WMD (weapons of mass destruction), to the devastation of the global ecosphere - justifies the advantages it has provided.

The problem is that with their rise and prestige, scientists have begun to express opinions on issues that do not really belong to their area of expertise, to say the least, such as the question of the existence of GOD and the truth of religions. While in the past these topics belonged to philosophers and theologians, now physicists and biologists are using their research as the basis for philosophical pronouncements. This tendency to express opinions beyond the scope of their expertise is encouraged by the public. Some even claim that science is the modern replacement for traditional philosophy.

For example, we often come across questions or surveys such as: Do scientists believe in GOD? Are most scientists atheists? What is the percentage of religious scientists? And so on. Supposedly, if it is proven that most scientists are atheists, that will be evidence in favor of atheism, because if the scientists say so, they probably know better than the ignorant masses.
