Anne Impellizzeri, executive director for Russel Wright’s Manitoga, has been honored for her extensive and dignified career in the insurance industry. In 1955, she earned her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Smith College and her Master of Arts from Yale University in 1957. Following college, Impellizzeri chose to become a charted life underwriter as well as a chartered financial consultant. The corporate world was no stranger to Impellizzeri as she was able to work her way up through the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company to become assistant vice president in corporate social responsibility.
While at Metropolitan Life, Impellizzeri had an influence on the internal public policy in the targeted suppliers program. She inspired each and every division of the company to purchase more supplies and services from minority and women-owned businesses. In recognition of the positive change she has made, Impellizzeri was named to the Academy of Women Achievers by the YWCA of the City of New York in 1978.
Eventually, Impellizzeri found herself as the executive director of Manitoga. This company is dedicated to the preservation of the historic home of the late American industrial designer Russel Wright in Garrison, N.Y. The goal of the Russel Wright Design Center is to safeguard the spirit and design of Manitoga, as well as to ensure the vision that inspired its creation is experienced by others.
