San Francisco, CA – January 28, 2025 – This Memorial Day weekend, San Francisco’s Mission District will come alive as the 47th annual Carnaval San Francisco pays tribute to the global impact of the African diaspora through the theme “AfroMundo: African Diaspora in the Americas.” Taking place May 24–25, 2025, this two-day free festival is a vibrant celebration of music, dance, and culture, drawing more than 500,000 attendees for an unforgettable experience of joy, resilience, and unity.

For over four decades, Carnaval San Francisco has been more than just a celebration—it's a movement of empowerment, transforming lives through the arts while embracing the rich diversity of the Americas. This year’s event will include seven exciting lead-up activities and culminate in a spectacular festival and grand parade, offering attendees the rhythms, flavors, and energy of the African diaspora.

"AfroMundo celebrates the profound cultural contributions of the African diaspora, from Samba and Tango to Jazz, Hip-Hop, Salsa, and beyond," said Rodrigo Durán, Executive Director of Carnaval San Francisco. "These genres, shaped by African traditions and rhythms, resonate globally, and our festival honors this legacy with a lineup of music, dance, and art that connects communities across the Americas."
